Questions
How much does a certified translation cost in Brooklyn?
At TEMA Express Services, a one-page birth, marriage or death certificate or ID card is $35 in French, $40 in Spanish and $55 in Haitian Creole and African languages; a diploma is $40, $45 or $60. Other documents are priced per page: French $35 for 1 page, $30 per page for 2–5 pages and $25 per page for 6 or more; Spanish and common languages $45, $40 and $35; Haitian Creole and African languages $60, $55 and $50. One page means up to 275 words, the minimum order is $35, and your signed certificate of accuracy is included.
What counts as a page?
Up to 275 words. A document shorter than that is still one page. We count from your actual document, not an estimate, and we confirm the page count with you before you pay.
Do you charge extra for the certificate of accuracy?
No. The signed certificate is included in the price. Same day or rush service, handwritten pages, notarization, extra printed copies and mailing are the only separate charges, and you see them before you approve.
How fast can I get a certified translation?
Same day for French and Spanish, 1 to 5 pages, for +$25 per page: documents and payment by 12 PM, your signed PDF emailed by 8 PM the same day, and printed copies collected until 8 PM sharp (after 8 PM, pickup is the next business day). Spanish depends on translator availability. Rush within 24 hours, up to 10 pages, for +$15 per page: guaranteed for French; for Spanish and other languages it depends on translator availability. If we miss a same-day or rush time we confirmed because of a delay on our side, that fee is refunded; the time starts once we have clear, complete documents and payment. Standard turnaround is 2–3 business days for French, 3–4 for Spanish and common languages, and 4–5 for other languages.
Will my translation be accepted?
Each organization sets its own rules, and the receiving organization decides acceptance. We prepare certified translations for government agencies, courts, schools, employers and consulates, and every one carries a signed Certificate of Translation Accuracy. Bring the organization's requirements and we will match them. If a translation is rejected because of our work, we fix and re-certify it free.
Do I need it notarized?
Usually not. Notarization confirms who signed the certificate; it does not verify the translation itself, and most organizations do not ask for it. It is needed mainly for documents going abroad that need an apostille, and for some consulates and courts. Ask us before you pay for it. Notarization by a commissioned New York notary is +$20.
Do you translate West African languages?
Yes. We handle Wolof, Pulaar, Soninké, Malinké and Susu, with native speakers in our Brooklyn office most days of the week.
Can I walk in?
Yes. We are at 451 Rockaway Avenue in Brooklyn and you can bring your documents in person. Notarization is arranged rather than walk-in, so call 718-880-4485 ahead if you need it.
Is my translation done by a person or a machine?
By a person. Every translation is done by a human translator, then proofread and given a final review before it leaves our office.
Can I talk to someone in French or my own language?
Yes. We speak English, French and some African languages — including Wolof, Pulaar, Malinké, Soninké, Susu and Lingala — in our Brooklyn office most days. For Spanish or Haitian Creole, please call ahead so we can check who is in the office today.
Do you know documents from French-speaking Africa and Haiti?
Yes. Our translators work with documents from West and Central Africa, Haiti, Canada and France every week, and know their formats, stamps and official terms.
My document has stamps, seals or handwriting. Can you translate it?
Yes. We translate everything readable, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes, and show them in place, like the original. Handwritten pages are +$10 per page.
Can I send a photo from my phone?
Yes. A clear photo of every page is enough: lay the page flat, use good light and make sure all four corners show. Photos from any phone work, including iPhone. We accept PDF, JPG, PNG and Word files. If something is hard to read, we ask you for a better copy before we start.
Do I get a PDF or a printed copy?
Both. Every order includes your signed PDF by email and one printed, signed copy, picked up at our office or sent with paid mailing. Extra printed copies are $10 each.
Do you charge a card fee?
No. One price whatever you pay with: cash, Zelle, debit or credit card, or an online invoice.
Do you work with attorneys and businesses?
Yes. We prepare multi-document packages under one master certificate, with a file number for each document. Larger orders get a lower price per page — French is $25 per page from 6 pages.
What if I find a mistake?
Tell us and we correct any error on our part free of charge. If a translation is rejected because of our work, we fix and re-certify it free. Changes you request after delivery that are not our error are $15.
